A Misanthrope's Lecture and Another Blogger Blog

Hisashiburi desu--It's been a while, hasn't it? A full four years to be precise. So, is this blog coming back? No, but hopefully I got something you'll like. Follow me after the jump to see what I've been up to!

Dance of the Wanderers: Update for October 2016

It's very, very late, but Dance of the Wanderers Episode 1 is finally completed and on the blog for all to read! You can check it out on the Dance of the Wanderers’ page alongside the original outline and treatment and its two earlier drafts.

Dance of the Wanderers Episode 1 is entitled: Jigsaw Falling Into Place (Home). The episode follows Kathleen Nyro as she experiences the worst day of her life. Having already lost her job and being forced to go to what is essentially her layoff party tonight, it seems the world can’t let that be the only trouble she faces today.

Next up, I will be working on both Episode 2 and 3. I plan on having the drafts (or hopefully the final scripts) done by the time Final Fantasy XV comes out (Nov. 29th). Because, a lot of Episode 2 is the same as the pilot and Episode 3 is a simpler episode in general they will be easier to put together. And, I’ve already begun writing the scripts.

The last thing I what to talk about is the future or end goal of Dance of the Wanderers. For a couple reasons that aren’t that important to go it to, I decided to write this story as script instead of a normal novel-style story. Doing so means that as it is the scripts aren’t actually the final product. Scripts aren’t meant to be the endgame. That said, what I’ve been thinking about the past few months is how to makes them complete and I’ve settled on something I think is good.

Previously, I was working on an audio drama, so I thought about doing the same for Wanderers, but Wanderers has too many visual elements to it. I would’ve had to rewrite the scripts to reflect the changes or add in a narrator to read the details but feels cheap to me. Then it hit me. I could do something like the Metal Gear Solid Digital Graphic Novel—an audio/visual comic. Get an artist to draw the episodes and find actors to perform them. So, that’s my end goal for Dance of the Wanderers.

As of right now, I’m just focusing on finishing the scripts, but hopefully, in time I can make it to my end goal.

Dance of the Wanderers: Update for September 2016

Dance of the Wanderers is still alive and I've been working on it in the shadows, albeit very slowly. I am happy to say that the real episode 1 will by released on Sunday, September 11, 2016 by 11:59pm EST! I still a lot of work to do this weekend on it, I will get it up on time if it kills me!

By going to the Dance of the Wanderers page you can check out the two drafts of episode 1 as well as the Final Version when it releases.

Dance of the Wanderers: June Update

This update will be short; I don't have a lot to update you guys on this month.

So, as of writing this I should be nearly done with the draft of Episode 5, yet I've barely cracked Episode 2. To say Episode 2 has been giving me trouble would be an understatement. It's been giving me a tremendous amount of trouble and frustration and doubt. It's an important episode, probably the most important of the first arc and definitely the most important episode now. But moving away from bad news and excuses--

The good news is I've finally been making some nice progress. I had a lot of trouble with the intro and now I have something simple that I believe fits the tone of the episode and encapsules its themes. Episode 3 and 4 shouldn't give me as much trouble as Episode 2, so I won't say it'll be easy sailing after 2 (it won't), but the we should be out of the storm.

That's all for this update, with me luck and remember you can check out future updates here or on the Dance of the Wanderers page.

Dance of the Wanderers: May Update

So, it's being a while since the last update. A lot longer than I had initially planned. Apologies. I ran into some successes and a lot of setbacks. So, where to start...

The preproduction phase had ended... sort of. I got a good amount of work done but nowhere near what I hoped. I've decided to do the production work in tandem with the script writing since the main preproduction work is done. Outlines for the ACT 1 episodes (1-4) are done and I'm working on episodes 2 and 3 right now. A super rough draft of episode 1 is already completed, though the quality is definitely lacking (EP 2-4 will be higher quality and EP 1 will be rewriting in time).

The schedule has not changed, which means that I am two episodes behind. The current plan is not to change the schedule. I plan on catching up and speeding up the draft writing (More on that in a future update). Drafts for episodes 2 and 3 (and hopeful 4) should be finished by the end of May and the next update should hit in early June.

Other than that, I've reuploaded the Pilot script with minor corrections added it. Check that out and other finished drafts and scripts on the Dance of the Wanderers page.

Story/Site Plans for 2015

Currently replaying ~ It's still so amazing!!

          Hi Everyone.

If you're reading this, thank you so much for visiting my blog after a long silence. I've got a lot of plans for 2015 and some of them involve my blog network. I've never been much of a blogger--writing random articles or talking about my personal on goings. I've occasionally dabbled in that stuff to various degrees of success and interest: Best Quote of the Week (Good), Reviews (Bad), and News (Ugly). But the bread and butter, the true core of these blogs have always been about being a place to easier display my projects--be that stories, games, pictures, etc. This year, or rather December of last, I made some resolutions projects-wise. Which in turn means more life here, if least a little.

Dance of the Wanderers

For 2015, I'm working on a new project entitled: Dance of the Wanderers. It's a 15 episode series that about a young woman name Kathleen Nyro who becomes cursed by a Spirit and has to find a way to break the curse or leave her home behind forever.

I'm really tired right now, so this won't be long. If you want to find out more about the project check out the Dance of the Wanderers page. There you can read updates, my insane schedule, or the just (I mean moment ago) finished Pilot episode.

Virtual Gaia Network Is Going On Break

Virtual Gaia Network is going on hiatus for awhile, while I catch up on school. Best Quotes of the Week will be up this Sunday, but won't return until the hiatus is over. Elevator Music's next Update will not go up this month. I'm sorry, guys, but I am really stretched thin right now. It's doesn't mean all that stuff is done or that a post won't find its way to the site, but I really need to focus on school right now. Also, there are a few other things I want to try and learn, but can't do them while I'm doing 50 other miscellaneous things. Anyway, hopefully it won't be long. Bye for now.

Elevator Music Can Be Good Music Too Update 12 ~ [1/27/12]

This is going to be short. I'm going to have to update this again a few days. I'm so late putting this up because my Internet (also land line) have been out for a few days and AT&T fixed it about 3 hours ago.

First. Elevator Music music is NOT ending! I finish the rough draft of Episode 2's Script: Silence On Radio Monday. It is not below, because I wrote the entity of the script in my notebook and haven't had the time to type in all up. So, expect that in a few days.

Second. I'm taking a little break from this. Why? The same reason I needed to before. School. This is my last semester and I want to keep it that way. Also, beside my core classes, I'm also taking a screenwriting class with my friend. In that class we have a semester long project--write a full fledged feature length movie script. And it's a lot of work. Working on two big story project at the same time plus all the work for my core class is a bit daunting. I'll post my Script for that up on the blog, so look out for that.

Third. I still going to work on EM, just slower pace. I want to have an outline for both Episode 3 and 4 done by Update 13, as well as have an improved version of Episode 1 Script, too.

Seeya, next time.

P.S.: Check out Bosnian Rainbows' first single: Torn Maps
You can buy it for a $1 in the link. It's really good.
Bosian Rainbows is Omar Rodríguez-López's new project while Mars Volta is on hiatus.

UPDATE 1 (1/31/13): I have finished typing the script. It is in the Google Drive Folder. You can find the links below. Please give it a while and comment on it.

Elevator Music Can Be Good Music Too Update 11 ~ [12/30/12]

This update is late because I am having several problem with focusing the story and my working habits. Compounding this is the fact that was a very busy and odd month--Finals, stomach virus. Plus there is that fact that I'm losing motivation partly because of me lack of a way to focus this project and partly because of the lack of interest in the project from anyone. But I forging forward right now. But I obviously need a plan and a solid one or next month I'll be right here again.

Really the only this I can fix is my work plan and the story. The problem here is that I haven't set up proper goals and more importantly deadlines in a decent amount of time. So, that is what I'm going to do: Set up a specific focused goal with a deadline. First Setting A Goal should be done right. It's needs to be...
  1. Specific
  2. Measurable
  3. Have a deadline
  4. Written down
  5. Review constantly

Now, before I get started on my goal. I make something clear to myself. I've been stressing out about fixing the First Episode, but now that it is done I can always come back to it and make my fixes. I need to work on the next episodes right now. So this goal is specifically going to focused on Episode Two.

My Goal
  • Finish Episode Two of Elevator Music by the next Update [1/27/13] (About a month's time)
Goal and deadline is good to have but also needs to accompanied by a course of action. In other words I need a plan on how I'm going to achieve this goal.

My Course of Action
  • 10 scenes, 12 scenes max (excluding intro narration and credits, but include final scene)
  • 25-30 pages, 32 pages max
  • Daily writing. At least 1 hour. Goal is a page or scene a day
  • Finish write a detailed outline of Episode Two first  Link to Outline
  • Stop working on Episode One this month completely. Focus on Episode Two

This is my current goal and plan for the next month. I don't have a new draft for you guys to see this Update, but you can check out the Script for Episode One from the Update 10 below. Also, I did make a few changes to that Script when you can find in the Early Access folder of the Elevator Music Google Drive Folder also located before. Not too many changes.

Script for First Floor (Season 1; Episode 1 - Pilot) [Partial-11/25/12]Here
Google Drive Folder [On-going; Updated On 1/12/13]

UPDATE 1 (1/13/12): Check Google Drive Folder > Early Access Folder for the Episode 2 Outline and Beginning Draft! Also, the slightly updated Episode 1 Script from December is there too with some of my comments both on Script and on the Google Drive comments section on that doc. Lastly, on the Google drive stuff you can leave and see comments by simply hitting the button on the top right labeled as 'Comments'. Sometimes I put my own extra notes there as well.

UPDATE 2 (1/6/13): I finished the outline and I like it. I have renewed hope! But I think it is vitally important that I finish a complete draft of episode 2 by the 27th or not continue with the story. Heavy, I know, but if I'm going to work--I need to work. What's a challenge without coincidences?

Elevator Music Can Be Good Music Too Update 10 ~ [11/25/12]

I'm a bit sick today, so I'm going to keep it short. First thing first. Episode 1's script is finished! If you checked out the Main Page earlier this month, I put it in my new Google Drive folder. I was going to polish it some more but I haven't changed it since then. Seems like it is final time to move on to Episode 2.

Second, I made a Google Drive folder for Elevator Music. The great thing about this is I can easily put files up, so if I make tweaks throughout the month before I do the next Update I can just put the file there. Google Drive even allows you guys to comment directly on the script. Also, the link path does change, so I never need to change it as I upload more files which is god for me. Check it out, I put the Song List and an extra scene in there too.

The last thing I want to say is that while the first episode didn't turn out bad, it did, my opinion turn out below my expectations. I thinking about rewriting it. As you can see from the Script, it has some of my notes on it. But one major note I didn't put in the Script is something I heard from a writer a while ago: "Every town is a story." I thing that is the one of the problems with the first episode, is that we spend a lot of time in Collis' dimension--his town, but it does that story, or character. It's just a place that goes to and leaves. This is even more apparent when looking at the next episode where there are (depending how I split it up) two or three main place and they all have a distinctive character, with the major place have a story behind it. I want to give that to Collis' home, especially since he's a main character. I want his home to explain a bit as to why he wants to explore so much. I got a few ideas, but I still working on them.

I actually wrote as about as much as I did last time. Hmm. Anyway, please take a look at the Episode 1 Script and comment on it, which, like always, is located below. Thanks for reading and I hope guys had a good Thanksgiving. Seeya next time.

Four Days Of Short Stories I

Four Days Of Short Stories is writing exercise/event I'm doing this weekend (Friday, Nov. 2 - Monday, Nov. 5) where I write an original short story everyday for four days. I'm going to post them here, in this post, and also here. I do not promise that the stories will good, just that they will be written in a day. The idea is to quickly come up with an original concept and run with, to experiment, and try out new styles. It's a learning and experimenting exercise.

Also, anyone is welcome to write stories along with me and post them here as well; even if they cannot write all four days. If you plan on doing so please follow the few guidelines.
  • An original unused concept (ideas you'll had but haven't written are fine)
  • No sequels/prequels/continuations to any of your old/current stories
  • Experiment
  • Try to make it a full stand-alone story
  • Must be posted by 11:59 PM of that day
  • Have fun!
Also, the stories should be between 1-4 pages (to be manageable) be can be longer. There isn't any set theme or motif, but if you're having trouble coming up with a story idea try this: The theme of boredom or try making the boring or ordinary event you can think of unique or strange.

Lastly, note that it says Four Days Of Short Stories 'I,' I may do this again if this first one goes well. I'm doing this to improve my own writing ability and to get myself run with concepts less stressfully and to writing quicker (looking at you Elevator Music).

UPDATE 1 (11/2/12): Day 1 Story added below. Read it in all its unedited glory!

UPDATE 2 (11/3/12): Day 2 Story added below.

UPDATE 3 (11/4/12): Day 3 Story added below.

UPDATE 4 (11/5/12): Day 4 Story, the final story, added below.

UPDATE 5 (11/6/12): Day 0 Test Story added.

Elevator Music Can Be Good Music Too Update 9 ~ [10/28/12]

Hey, guys. It's been awhile, huh? At least for Elevator Music after a bit of a hiatus. No video this update, but the Script has been updated from last month. It's still not complete. Progress has been slow because of school and me working on other projects. Expect progress to continue slow as school is my priority, but it will be finish prior to the new year. I promise. Hopeful by the next update.

Speaking of the next update, I'll going to continue this format of writing more and have no video. Also, I think doing a month instead of weekly schedule for these updates makes more sense giving the slow progress. The next update will be at the end of November.

So, what's been happening with Elevator Music the past month in terms progress? Actually more than you would think giving the break. The script has been giving a number of minor fixes as well as have scene 3 rewritten and so smoother transitions added in. On the non-physical side, some characters been more clearly defined. Neil is down. I took a look at some of the stories themes and am making sure they are well represented in the season and story overall. Changed, given, and/or built upon character themes. Season 1 is still giving me trouble, but a lot of thing a clear now. Now I need to focus on finishing episode 1.

The Script is right below. Please take a look and comment. See you next time.

Do You Want More 'Elevator Music Can Be Good Music Too'?

Do you guys want to see more of Elevator Music Can Be Good Music Too, the audio drama that I'm working? If you do please tell me by leaving comments under this post. To tell you the truth, school is really kicking my butt right now and I'm feeling very unmotivated. A little word that someone wants to see this project continue would really go a long way right now. Since the last update I haven't done much on the project, because of school and other things, but the last few weeks I have been review the script of the first episode and making notes and corrects. Other than that, I've been working on flushing out the main characters more as well as making the whole story align with the themes I want to convey overall and for each season.

After reviewing the first episode's script on my own I've found problems, but really holds up. Tweaking more than rewriting seems to be all that it really need (though there are obviously some scenes that will be rewritten). I'm more or less happy with what I have so far.

If you have been following the the progress of Elevator Music Can Be Good Music Too, I would like to thank you. I really appreciate interest you are giving to my project, especially when all I have to show is an incomplete pilot script. Thank you very much.

I do not really know why I decided to make this post, but I feel it is a need post to make right now. Again, I ask that if you want to see more of this project that you let me know by commenting below. Until next everyone.

Virtual Gaia Network Is Taking Some Down Time

Hey, everyone. Virtual Gaia Network (including Virtual Gaia, Virtual Gaia Games, and Virtual Gaia Projects) is going to be taking some down time while I take care of my duties at college. College should be my top priority and I really need to focus on that. So for the time Virtual Gaia Network won't be update as frequently. I usually at least update Virtual Gaia weekly with Best Quote of the Week, but as of right now everything not school related is going to take a back seat for away. Thanks for reading. See you next time.

Elevator Music Video Update 8 ~ [9/17/12]

First thing first. The Script for the first episode has been updated. I'm nearly finished. Also, I spent the week making a sort of guide as to what will need to be done with this Script once I finish. There is going to be some revising. Along with that I made a Thematic Outline--what I want to accomplish with each episode of the season story and theme wise.

Next, I'm taking a bit of a break. What I mean by this is that I really need to focus on school and I can't spent part everyday trying to find time to write everyday... or worrying about that. I'm not stopping but the schedule is going to be more lax. This also means I'm not going to be doing these video updates every week. I was thinking about doing it on a monthly based, but we will see for now. As of right now I have the next update scheduled for the end of October. I need to focus my self on school.

Anyway the Script is right below. Please take a look and comment. See you next time.

Elevator Music Video Update 7 ~ [9/9/12]

Sorry I didn't have the video part of the video update up last week. It's been very hectic since school started. The good thing is that I done coding Still Here After Wednesday Night version 5.2.0.0., this means I have more free time however that free time will be mostly used for school until I get everything in order. No Script update this week, but expect one next Sunday. Seeya then.
